UV Lamps

UV lamps, provided by SILAP,  are made of a quartz tube, sealed at both ends, containing  a small quantity of mercury and an inert  gas.

We provide UV lamps made of quartz glass with wavelengths from 185 to 400 nm.

Thanks to its high thermal and mechanical stability, quartz tube, used to produce UV lamps, has high transmission efficiency and it is highly transparent to UV radiation.

Different kinds of quartz tubes are used according to the type of UV lamp to be produced:

  • Natural quartz
  • Synthetic Quartz
  • Doped Quartz (Ozone Free)

LOW PRESSURE UV-C LAMPS FOR ROOMS AND SURFACES SANITIZING

The low pressure UV lamps are appreciated mainly for sanitizing applications using UV-C rays. The antibacterial efficacy of this kind of lamps can be combined with ozone emission (depending of chosen model) to obtain the maximum level of disinfection.

This type of lamp is used in many applications where it is important to ensure effective sanitation of surfaces and air, in order to increase the safety and health of people who come into contact with it.

Some application contexts:

  • Restaurants
  • Offices
  • Public transport
  • Hotel
  • Supermarket
  • Furniture and cupboards
  • Beauty salons
  • Laboratories

In addition to being able to be used for the construction of custom sanitization systems, these lamps are used in the new range of iJen sanitisers developed and produced by Silap. For more information visit the dedicated page “Sanitization systems with UV-C lamps“.

MEDIUM PRESSURE UV LAMPS

Mercury doped lamps

The mercury medium pressure UV lamps are appreciated mainly for UV curing and drying applications and UV disinfection and oxidation applications.

Two kinds of lamp technology are available for our customers:

  • “rolled sealed” lamps (A)
  • “pinched sealed” lamps (B)

Here below some explanatory drawings.

A – Rolled sealed lamps

The sealing process of the lamp occurs on a lathe under vacuum. While perfectly heated, the Quartz will collapse around the leaves of molybdenum.

2

B – Pinched sealed lamps

The sealing process takes place using a spiker pinching machine; the quartz, suitably warmed, is pressed by two hammers.

Metal halide lamps

For special applications, in addition to the usual mercury lamps, we provide a series of UV Lamps (Metal Halide) adding doping elements (metal halide) that change the spectrum of ultraviolet radiation, thus optimizing it for different possible applications.

Lamp doping and related spectra

The table below reports various lamp spectra in case of different lamp dopings:

UV MEDIUM PRESSURE MERCURY VAPOUR LAMPS

These UV lamps, emit across the entire spectrum of ultraviolet light (UVA, UVB and UVC) with peak emission in the UVA range at 366 nm.

UV MEDIUM PRESSURE LAMPS GALLIUM DOPED

The metal halide UV medium pressure gallium doped lamps emit UV radiation with peak emission in the UVArange at 420 nm.

UV MEDIUM PRESSURE LAMPS IRON DOPED

The metal halide UV medium pressure iron doped lamps emit UV radiation with peak emission in the UVA range at 366 nm and 440 nm.
